Energy Assistance: 2024 Season Anticipated Start Date

APIA informs the public that the anticipated start date for the 2024 Energy Assistance Season is November 15, 2023.

Elders can begin applying as early as November 1, 2023.

Applications received before these dates will be held until the program opens.

We can receive applications by:
• Email- DianeR@apiai.org & CheyanneS@apiai.org (please send to both addresses in case one is out of office). Sand Point residents can apply with Patricia Curtis at PatriciaC@apiai.org
• Fax- 907-222-9711
• Mail- 1131 East International Airport Road, Anchorage, AK 99518. Sand Point residents can apply in person with Patricia Curtis or mail applications to PO Box 464, Sand Point, AK 99661

Energy Assistance Plans – Public Comment

APIA informs the public that our Energy Assistance plans have been submitted to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families. Our Energy Assistance program includes two federal programs, the long-standing Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and a brand new program, Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP).

Please submit any comments, questions or concerns to Jacob Timmons, Special Projects Coordinator at JacobT@apiai.org . We will respond to all comments. We are able to take action on comments in the form of a plan amendment until November 1, 2021. Comments received after November 1, 2021 will be documented but action will not be taken until the following plan period.
