Become a Client

Thank you for considering us for your behavioral health care needs. We exist to serve tribal members living the APIA service region. We are pleased to offer care to non-tribal members through our referral management process.




 

CRISIS

If you are in crisis and need help right away:

  • Call 911 or your local Village Public Safety Officer (VPSO)
  • Go to your nearest Emergency Room or local clinic
  • Call or text the Lifeline support (available 24/7) at 988

Tribal members of APIA’s service region can contact our Anchorage office to schedule services. You can also contact your local clinic. No referral is needed.

Self-Referrals 

We welcome non-tribal requests for care by referral. If you want to become a new client:

  1. Fill out the behavioral health referral form
  2. If you have gotten behavioral health care in the past year, send in the last 3 chart notes and/or intake report
  3. Send these by email: registration@apiai.org or fax: 907-222-4279

We will review and decide if we can offer you services. We typically respond within 3 business days.

 

PROVIDERS AND COMMUNITY AGENCIES

If you are a provider or agency referring your client:  

  1. Fill out the behavioral health referral form
  2. Send the client’s last 3 chart notes and/or intake assessment
  3. If required by your organization, send a release of information for referral coordination
  4. Send these through email registration@apiai.org or fax 907-222-4279

 

For referrals from the Office of Children’s Services, complete these additional steps:

  1. Send a release of information for the adult who provides day-to-day care for the minor, if the State of Alaska has current custody
  2. Send an intake summary or disposition report

 

We will review the records and determine if we can offer services. Decisions are based upon our current clinic capacity and case complexity. We typically respond within 3 business days.

PAYING FOR SERVICES AND INSURANCE INFORMATION

            Please bring your insurance card and your ID to your appointment. If you get new insurance please let us know.

Insurance

We accept IHS benefits, Medicaid, and Medicare. We are in-network with Premera BCBS.

 

Veteran and Tricare Benefits

We are grateful for the service and sacrifice of our veterans and are committed to supporting them.

We accept Veterans Administration (VA) benefits. Please note:

  • Non-Native patients with VA benefits must have prior authorization before receiving services
  •  American Indian and Alaska Native patients with VA benefits do not require prior authorization

All patients with TRICARE must have prior authorization before receiving services.

 

Self-Pay and Sliding Scale Discount Program

If you do not have insurance, we will work with you to help determine your costs. APIA offers both self-pay pricing and a sliding fee discount scale. To see if you qualify, please complete the sliding scale application. Eligibility is based upon family size and income. No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay.

We offer payment plans as a convenient way to manage your bill. If your bill exceeds $50, you may set up monthly automatic payments. Payment plans are interest-free for up to 24-months and can be arranged through our billing partner, Health Resources Group (HRG).
