Birds for Elders

Each year, between May and September, the USDA donates and delivers birds to APIA. Cultural Heritage staff collaborate with APIA’s Elders Program to distribute the birds. A post-card is mailed to notify our Elders residing in the Greater Anchorage area that birds are available.  Elders may contact APIA to request delivery of one or two birds to their home, or they can make arrangements to pick one or two up at APIA.  They birds are distributed on a first come, first served basis. Types of birds include mallards, geese, teal, sandhill crane, greater scaup, and several other types of birds to APIA.
