Description

General Assistance provides payments for individuals that go towards meeting essential food, clothing, shelter, or other living needs while the individual actively participates in work-related activities. These activities may be waived for individuals who are medically unable to work, as documented by a medical provider while applying for Social Security. This service has tribal enrollment, residency, and income eligibility requirements.

Eligibility

Tribal Enrollment

Participants must be enrolled in any federally recognized Tribe, as documented by a tribal card or enrollment letter.

Residency List (Service Area)

A participant must reside in: Akutan, Atka, False Pass, King Cove, Nelson Lagoon, Nikolski, Sand Point, St. George, or Unalaska.

Income

General Assistance participants must meet income guidelines published by BIA. For example, a single adult making more than $875 in a month is in most cases ineligible.
