Delores Gregory

Delores Gregory teaches Native Youth Olympics, the bentwood visor assistant and provides assistance where needed at the Urban Unangax^ Camp. Ms. Gregory demonstrated the games and strategies the lets the children and youth test their own skills through friendly competition. They try the stick pull, the high kick, the seal hop, and leg wrestling. NYO is a popular camp activity that the kids look forward to.

 

Delores Gregory is from Unalaska, Alaska and currently resides in Kodiak, Alaska. She’s been at every camp since its inception and began as an apprentice when she was 18 years old. She was mentored by O. Patricia Lekanoff-Gregory in the art of bentwood visor construction. Delores developed her teaching skills when she conducted dance instruction as an apprentice during the 2009 camp. In 2010 Ms. Gregory took over the Native Youth Olympics activities at camp which is a regularly scheduled activity at camp.
