Energy Assistance Plans – Public Comment

APIA informs the public that our Energy Assistance plans have been submitted to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families. Our Energy Assistance program includes two federal programs, the long-standing Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and a brand new program, Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP).

Please submit any comments, questions or concerns to Jacob Timmons, Special Projects Coordinator at JacobT@apiai.org . We will respond to all comments. We are able to take action on comments in the form of a plan amendment until November 1, 2021. Comments received after November 1, 2021 will be documented but action will not be taken until the following plan period.

Energy Assistance: Supplemental Awards and Last Call for Applications

APIA informs the public that we have received additional Energy Assistance funding through the American Rescue Plan.

These funds will be distributed to all eligible households as a supplemental award. No additional application is needed.

If you have not received an award this season, which began in November 2020, please apply by June 30, 2021. After June 30th, award amounts will be locked in and distributed based on your original award and choice of vendor.

Energy Assistance: 2021 Season Closing

APIA informs the public that the 2021 Energy Assistance season is officially closing as funds have been exhausted. Applications received after 4/30/21 will not be processed.

APIA has not received word about funding for next season, but we plan to open again in Mid-November 2021.

If you have not received an award this season, which began in November, 2020, and you would like to apply, please submit an application as soon as possible.
