REGIONAL ADMINISTRATION
ADMINISTRATION– With direction from the APIA Board its Health Committee and the President/CEO, the Health Department Administration provides full oversight of services and programs, budgets, quality improvement, compliance, evaluation of programs and services, consumer relations, development of current and long-term strategic planning, and acts as liaison through appointment of board representation on the Alaska Native Health Board, the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, and various other health service boards and committees. Within Administration extended services include Improvement Advisor support, Clinical Applications/EHR support, and HR Resource Development.
MEDICAL BILLING SERVICES– Seeks to maximize collection of alternate revenues available to fund health programs; including private insurances, private payers (non-Indian Health Service beneficiaries), Medicaid, Denali Kid Care, and Medicare, and the Veterans Administration. The Indian Health Service is the payer of last resort and APIA must collect from alternative payers before using Indian Health Services funds for service.
COMPLIANCE/RISK ASSESSMENT – health care and HIPAA compliance is tracked and managed by the Anchorage office. An outside and independent contractor is used to review cases, as determined by the level of need. The Board Health Committee reviews all cases and their outcomes at the Board Meetings.
