2026 Energy Assistance Plan for Public Comment

APIA informs the public that the 2026 Energy Assistance plan (LIHEAP Model Plan) is available for public comment here for a 30-day period ending June 1, 2025.
Major changes from last year’s plan includes:
Benefit matrix reduction in point value from $150/point to $125/point.
This change will have the following impact on awards:
| If your 2025 season award was: | Then your 2026 season award (if your income and household composition is unchanged) will be: | This change is being proposed in order to serve the increasing number of households that apply for assistance, which was seen in 2024, 2025, and is anticipated for 2026.
APIA will request additional funds to meet this need. Should sufficient additional funds be approved, this award reduction will be amended back to the 2024 level of $175/point. |

All comments will be recorded and considered for plan changes. Any comments received after 30-days of this notice being posted (June 1, 2025) will be recorded and considered for the 2027 plan cycle.
