2027 Benefits Increase
APIA informs the public that the State of Alaska has accepted our request to increase our Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) allocation size. This will allow us to reverse the previous public notice, dated July 15, 2026, which proposed a reduction in benefits to serve the anticipated number of eligible households.
Instead, the new allocation size will allow us to increase benefits as indicated below.
Benefit matrix increase in point value from $125/point to $175/point.
This change will have the following impact on awards:

Anticipated Start Date
Dependent upon receipt of federal funding, we will begin processing applications:
for elders on November 2, 2026,
and for all other households on November 16, 2026.
Applications received before these dates will be held and processed when the season opens.
