Public Notice: Emergency Assistance Available for Homes Damaged by High Winds

ATTENTION: Homes Damaged by High Winds in the Region
APIA informs the public of the availability of Emergency Assistance.
Emergency Assistance may provide one-time payment of up to $1,500 to assist with the repair of damages or replacement of essential needs for homes damaged by natural events, including windstorms.
Eligibility requirements:
- The damaged home is the primary residence, located in the APIA region (Akutan, Atka, False Pass, King Cove, Nelson Lagoon, Nikolski, Sand Point, St. George, St. Paul, or Unalaska)
- At least one household member is Alaska Native or American Indian
The following documentation is needed for Emergency Assistance services:
- Completed application, https://www.apiai.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/APIA-ETR-Application-for-Services-04232025-FIllable.pdf
- Tribal enrollment card, enrollment letter, or CIB
- Proof of residency (piece of mail, ID with address, utility bill)
- Documentation of household damage (usually provided as photos)
- Requested repairs or essential needs for the payment to be put towards
