WORK HOURS: 7.5 hours per day

Job Summary: The position of Elder Engagement Coordinator with the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association, Inc. (APIA) will coordinate and supervise the Elder Health Aide program and staff as well as support Eldercare activities within the caregiver program. Following all federal, state and local regulations, this position will maintain the primary funding and all requirements and reporting requirements set forth by the funding agency for all the services and activities allowed within the funding. This includes developing policies, manuals, and program documents as applicable. This position will also explore additional initiatives for growth in services, activities and events for Elders. Additionally, this position will support the growth by writing and applying for additional funding opportunities to expand services and activities for Elders.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following; Social Work, Geriatrics, program development, or writing or related field. Experience in administrating community health related programs, preferred.  Experience as an AmeriCorps member preferred. Experience in working with Elders, and creating documents for Elder Programs. Knowledge of local and state resources and services for Elderly or other vulnerable populations, preferred. Experience in working with Medicare or Medicare Enrollment Certification or willingness to be trained and certified. Ability to work independently during daily operations. Willing to take training and attend workshops and meetings periodically to enhance job performance and knowledge. Ability to maintain respectful communication with Elders, co-workers, volunteers, and other patrons at all times, especially under stressful circumstances. Ability to write professional documentation with knowledge of professional writing standards. Willingness and means to travel and have a valid Alaska Driver’s License.
