JOB TITLE: Elder Health Aide

LOCATION: St. George, Alaska

SALARY: Depending on Experience

WORK HOURS: 24 hours per week

DUTIES: Complete training in REACH (Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer’s Caregiver Health) into Indian Country programming and obtain Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) certification through NCCDP. Implement REACH programming within community and provide other caregiver/patient support, including home visits and general health promotion services. Raise awareness about dementia-related issues and available programming in community through utilization of social media, local newspaper, radio, and distribution of educational materials.

High school graduate or equivalent, and some college completed. Elder care related or health related certifications preferred. Interested in providing support to the Elders of the community such as application assistance, caregiver counseling, phone check ins, transportation services via APIA vehicle, etc. Will be a resident of the community or interested in relocating to the community (relocations costs not provided). Must be 18 years of age or older. Agree to complete all training requirements for the Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer’s Caregiver Health (REACH) within the first 3 months of hire. Agree to complete additional required trainings for position within the first 6 months of hire. Ability to communicate in English and have detail-oriented documentation skills. Computer skills required (Professional email communication, Word, Excel and internet search experience, etc.) Ability to prepare and present effective oral and/or written reports in required format. Willingness to lead support groups and speak professionally in group settings. Willingness and means to travel and have a valid Alaska Driver’s License. Willing to take training and attend workshops and meetings periodically to enhance job performance and knowledge.
