Job Summary: The position of the Elder Meal Service Driver with the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association, Inc. (APIA) will coordinate transportation services associated with the APIA Elder Meal Service Program. This will include transporting Elders to and from meal services, facilitating delivery of food to homebound participants, and the transportation of Elders to other scheduled appointments. Duties will also include record keeping and everyday vehicle maintenance. This position will need to coordinate with APIA’s Anchorage office for route planning and Elder enrollment. The Elder Meal Service Driver will be responsible for upholding transportation and food safety policies required by APIA and the State of Alaska.
Qualifications: High School graduate or GED. Valid Driver’s License. Experience in food service preferred. Experience, knowledge and appreciation for general food safety guidelines. Ability to work independently with little to no oversight during daily operations. Willing to take training and attend workshops and meetings periodically to enhance job performance and knowledge. Ability to maintain respectful communication with Elders, co-workers, volunteers, and other patrons at all times, especially under stressful circumstances. Native preference will be given to qualified candidate under P.L. 93-638, as amended.
