Position: Head Start Program Assistant

 

Location: Anchorage, Alaska 

 

Reports to: Head Start Division Coordinator

 

Work Hours: Full Time- 37.5 hrs/week 

 

Salary: DOE & Education

 

Duties: Provide program support and data from a wide variety of sources (e.g. student information, timesheets, calendars, filing, copying, ordering and maintaining office supplies, etc.) to the Head Start regional staff and appropriate component coordinators.  Create meetings in Outlook, prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, keep running task list from meetings and follow up on progress of tasks.  Manages projects as assigned. Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and/or trainings for the purpose of providing or receiving information, and supporting the needs of the attendees. Oversees the work activities within the office for the purpose of organizing assignments, monitoring progress, and ensuring completion within established guidelines.  Assist program staff achieve program goals with a variety of tasks and perform other duties as assigned under the division coordinator and department director.

 

Qualifications: Must be high school graduate or equivalent. Must have a stable job history with at least four years of experience preferable with an Alaskan Native tribal entity. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to use those skills interpersonally.  Must have strong clerical skills and excellent organizational skills.  Exceptional ability to write professional correspondence and documentation.  Have strong Microsoft Office skills focusing on Word Processing, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint, Excel and data tracking programs.  Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards. Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively in a fast paced environment and meet program requirements.  Demonstrate dependability, maturity, good judgement in performance of duties and the ability to be a team player.

 

Requirements: Upon date of hire, must be able to pass criminal background check. Valid Alaska Driver’s License.
