Position: Community Support Advocate


Location: Anchorage, Alaska 


Reports to: Department of Family & Community Development Director – Anchorage


Work Schedule: Full Time – 37.5 hrs per week

Job Summary: Perform duties necessary for the successful implementation of the Tribal Victim Services Set-Aside Program to facilitate community-based victim service assessment and strategic planning efforts in the Aleutian and Pribilof Islands. This position will support the enhancement of current victim services and collaborative relationships between providers and residents to strengthen communities across the Aleutian and Pribilof Islands region in response to crime victim needs.  Travel to and facilitate meetings in the APIA regional communities to support service delivery strategic planning efforts. Effectively utilize federal systems to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.                                       


Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.  Two years of experience working with social and victim services programs, local governments, Native non-profit corporations or related agencies in the areas of program coordination, management or planning. Two years advanced computer experience with background in publications, statistical management, website production and/or maintenance; in addition to computer skills including ability to use MS Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to work independently, interact with board of directors, government officials and agency staff.  Familiar with Tribal, State & Federal government. Demonstrate dependability, maturity and good judgement in performance of duties.  Must be able to interact with individuals from various backgrounds including Alaska Native clients.  Ability to present oral and/or written reports in required format. Willing to attend trainings, workshops, and meetings periodically to enhance job performance and knowledge.


                                                Willing and able to travel to the APIA regional communities. Pass criminal history background/fingerprint clearance. Valid Alaska driver’s license.
