The Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association, Inc. (APIA) is the regional, non-profit organization serving the Aleutian/Pribilof Islands Region of Alaska. APIA is the federally recognized regional tribal organization of Alaska’s Aleut population.  It was organized under state regulations as a nonprofit corporation and received 501(c)(3) tax exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service in 1976 with the merger of two predecessor organizations: The Aleut League, formed in 1966, and The Aleutian Planning Commission, formed a few years later.

APIA provides cultural, health, human and community services on behalf of and to over 3,000 individuals residing in the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Region.  APIA has a 13 member Board of Directors, one member from each tribe: Akutan Tribe; Atka Tribe; Belkofski Tribe; False Pass Tribe; Agdaagux Tribe of King Cove; Nelson Lagoon Tribe; Nikolski Tribe; Tribal Government of Pauloff Harbor; Qagan Tayagungin Tribe of Sand Point; St. George Tribe;  Tribal Government of St. Paul; Qawalangin Tribe; and the Unga Tribe; and serves the residents of 10 specific communities as well as other residents of the entire region.   The Board of Directors, through  President/CEO Dimitri Philemonof, oversees the Association’s operations.
